Somers Point is the center point of the towns in
Atlantic County and Cape May County. To its east is Ocean City.
Upper Township is to its south. Linwood and Northfield are north and EHT is northwest of Somers Point.
Ocean City
is known as "Americas Greatest Family Resort" as it caters to the
entire family with its activities, events, recreational facilities and
educational system. There is great shopping not only along the main
artery - Asbury Avenue - but also all along the Boardwalk. The
beaches are clean, guarded and usually not too crowded. Restaurants,
pizza parlors, food stores and "goodie" stores dot its 8 mile area.
Remember, Ocean City is a dry town.
Upper Township encompasses a very
large area of Cape May County. It boasts of great schools,
tremendous recreational parks and wonderful neighborhoods. Community
services are abundant. Beesleys Point, Marmora, Palermo and Seaville
are the nearest towns to Somers Point.
Linwood and Somers Point are almost twins. They
share a high school with Somers Point. High School students are bussed to
its next door neighbor. Many of the doctors that are affiliated with
Shore Memorial in Somers Point have offices in Linwood. The shopping
in Linwood is the best. When you think of Linwood, you can't help
but think its a part of Somers Point.
Northfield is just beyond Linwood and it also has
great shopping, great schools and great community services.
Physicians from Shore Memorial also practice in Northfield as it is
only a hop, skip and jump away from the hospital.
EHT (Egg Harbor Township)
has its own school system. This is a large township and is
convenient to the two malls in the area - Shore Mall and Hamilton
Mall where you can find all the national chain restaurants, chain
department stores and chain warehouse stores. EHT has numerous golf
courses and is in a new construction phase.
